Pinnawela: The place is really a good shelter and protective home for more than 60 elephants. Before feeding time they walk for bathing towards Maha Oya , a river in front of the orphanage and spend hours in water from 10.00am and 2.00 pm. It is said that there is the largest captive herd of elephants in this orphanage in the world and as well as the most successful breeding centre for them.
